Shopify order edits & address changes: support workflow + templates
A Shopify decision tree for address, size and quantity changes. Confirm identity and warehouse timing before approving an edit, then describe the action that actually occurred.

Decide whether an edit is still possible
- Match the order and verify the requester using your normal process.
- Check cancelled items, fulfilled quantities, fulfilment-service activity and the warehouse’s actual dispatch state.
- Confirm whether a label or packing task is already in progress. An unfulfilled status alone does not guarantee that a change is possible.
- Check stock, price changes, taxes and shipping charges with an authorised operator.
- Make the approved change in Shopify and any connected fulfilment system, then check the saved result before confirming it.
Keep the address and order edit separate
A new shipping address does not automatically change a billing address. An item edit may require an extra payment or a refund, and external fulfilment services may need separate instructions. Tell the customer which changes were saved and which still need approval. Do not promise a carrier redirect unless the carrier confirms it.
After confirmed carrier handover
Check the carrier’s available options and your store policy. A redirect, return or cancellation may have fees or be unavailable. Explain the verified option rather than offering a guaranteed reroute. A fulfilled status is not carrier handover proof; inspect the actual shipment record.
Copy-paste starters
Replace every placeholder, check the condition above each reply and remove any action or estimate that is not verified. These templates do not send messages or perform order actions.
