Top Shopify blogs to follow (by role)
A role-based Shopify reading list for merchants, agencies and developers. Use reliable sources to improve a real workflow; a popular article is not a substitute for current platform documentation.

For merchants: operations and customer experience
Start with the Shopify Blog for business ideas and operating topics. For a specific setting, order operation or sales channel, check the Shopify Help Center. Keep inspiration and documented functionality separate: an example store’s policy is not automatically appropriate for your products or customers.
When reading about returns or shipping, identify the decision you need to make. Record the policy owner, the customer groups it affects and the date it was checked. Turn the approved decision into a short support instruction rather than copying an entire article into a macro.
For agencies: platform changes and repeatable checks
Follow the Shopify product changelog for merchant-facing changes. Build a checklist for which client stores use an affected feature and whether staff instructions need an update. A release announcement does not mean every store has the same configuration.
Keep each client’s support policies and return address separate. A reusable implementation checklist can be shared; a customer-specific reply should be checked against the correct store. Measure the effect of a change before describing it as a proven growth tactic.
For developers: documentation before assumptions
Use Shopify developer documentation for integration behaviour and the developer changelog for API changes. Match guidance to the API version and feature you actually use. Verify authentication, access scopes and error handling in the implementation, not from a tutorial’s screenshot.
A useful weekly reading routine
- Select one topic tied to a recurring support problem.
- Find the primary documentation for the proposed action.
- Check whether it applies to your current store setup.
- Ask the relevant owner to approve a policy change.
- Update the affected checklist and template, then review a few real outcomes.
This is an editorial starting list grouped by role, not an exhaustive ranking. We do not score third-party blogs, claim an affiliation or promise results from following a feed. Keep a dated source link in your internal playbook so a future reviewer can check the same instruction.
